Still working at honing my painting skills. That’s coming along reasonably well, I’m probably too hard on myself, but I just know the quality isn’t there yet. Completed a few master studies in acrylic. I think I’m probably going to stick with acrylic for now, or at least until I get my confidence up. That seems to be where my skillset is taking me.
I’ve also started working on creating some devices again. They’re a sort of simple sculptural element that also serves a basic function. It’s a way to include electronic circuitry into a piece and have it express a concept, a thought, or a meaning. What that might consist of can vary greatly I’d imagine, but I like the idea that it can all exist in one unit. A small wooden box in this case, but it can literally be anything. It doesn’t need to represent anything other than what it is. The concept and execution are the most important parts. Its function is the key to the piece – what it looks like doesn’t matter.
